City schools dumping $95 million computer system for tracking student data

And, not a moment to soon! The Achievement Reporting and Innovation System (ARIS) was implemented by the Education Department in 2007. It’s one of the city’s biggest computer systems, with records on more than 1 million current and former students. But it has been blasted by critics for being clunky and slow, reads the first line of the Daily News article.

First thought that came to mind after seeing the headline was that just a portion or $20 million would give us a brand new 6-7 story library and community building with the space to provide services for every demographic in Sunset Park, as well as room to grow.

The irony of it all...
